Diocese of Brooklyn

Bishop Nicolas DiMarzio of the Diocese of Brooklyn celebrated a Mass for the World Day for Consecrated Life at St. James Cathedral-Basilica on Feb. 1.  Men and women from several religious communities attended the Mass during which Bishop DiMarzio told those who dedicated their lives to Jesus and His Church that they must be like prophets saying that "the religious have a unique function in the Church.  They should speak the words of God not only by the way they live but by the way they speak and the way they act."

Br. Bill Boslet, OSF (Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn) and current Vice President of the CMSM National Board and active leader of the "Brothers Think Tank," also attended the Mass and noted that the Year for Consecrated Life "so far has had a positive impact on those in consecrated life and on society in general."  Br. Bill added that "It helps put a spotlight on how we live and those we serve."

"It's certainly uplifting to see the great number of religious present here today to renew your vows and to keep your vows through your various ministries,"
concluded Bishop DiMarzio, who added "I thank you personally."
